At the audition, please be prepared to discuss your musical background and reasons for wishing to study the piano. If you have prior experience, please prepare 3–5 minutes of music to present. If you are a beginner, your audition will consist of an interview. The Vassar College Jazz Ensemble is a twenty-plus-member big band of student musicians playing saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, guitar, and drums; vocalists are featured as well. It performs literature ranging from the Big Band Era to contemporary compositions and arrangements.
